Everyone learns and changes as they get older, but girls have the incredible privilege to develop some exciting changes that boys just never will, all because of the unique things that only girls ever get to learn. For example, as girls get older, they need to learn to wear high heels. Flat shoes are only really appropriate for very young girls, and over time girls will learn to wear progressively higher heels. Because of thees high heels, girls have the incredible privilege of developing changes not only to their feet and ankles, but also to their posture, stride, and confidence. On top of unique girl-only lessons like that, girls learn to perfect their bodies through diet and exercise, and they learn to smoke or vape. While these aren’t unique to girls, many boys won’t ever learn these skills, and as such they will never experience the amazing benefits they offer.
In today’s world, girls are constantly being pulled between the many expectations and requirements they must meet. While it’s true that societies standards for girls have relaxed over time, there are still many expectations for the girls of today. Generally speaking these expectations can be broken down into one of three categories: Requirements, Expectations, and Values. Requirements are things that will cause an explicit problem if a girl does not meet them, Expectations will dramatically effect the way you are seen if they are not met, but are unlikely to result in explicit negative outcomes, and Values will have a dramatic positive effect on the way you are seen if they are met.
Well, we’re going to skip over the obvious here because things like brushing your teeth and washing your hair are universal requirements for everyone, and don’t need explaining here. No, instead I’ll be going over those personal hygiene requirements that are specific to girls, the ones that may not have been effectively explained to you before.
First and foremost we have body-hair and the fact that shaving it is Required. Whether we’re talking legs, armpits, face, genitals- whatever you need, failure to remove body-hair will very likely cause negative outcomes. Generally speaking your best bet is to let it get long enough that it’s visible, then cover it for one day before shaving it the next day. That gives you the best balance of the required hairlessness with letting the hair get long enough that shaving it won’t cause issues such as razor burn.
Clothing is a big one, it has some pieces from every category, and some pieces change category depending on context. The easiest clothing rules to keep track of are undergarment requirements: If you are in public, or in a private group setting, a bra is required. Similarly, if you are in public, or in a private group setting, pantie-lines must not be visible. In practice this basically means if you’re not wearing PJ’s you need to be wearing a bra, and if you’re wearing tight-fitting bottoms, you need to be wearing a thong.
Next lets talk high heels. In nearly every context high heels are at least valued, with significant positive assessments coming to those who wear them in situations where they are not expected / required to, but there are many situations where they’re more than just valued. For example, in any situation you wouldn’t feel comfortable wearing a hoodie, high heels become expected, and in any situation that requires any level of formality (if there is a dress code) they become required.

There’s more to it than just whether you need to wear them though. When heels are simply valued, basically any heel higher than one inch will do. When they are expected, two inches becomes the minimum, and they must be either block or stiletto heels, wedges will not do. Additionally, while any toe style will pass the expectation its self, pointed toe styles are preferred. When heels are required, two-and-a-half inches becomes your minimum height, and pump style heels are the only option. Pointed toe boxes are strongly preferred here.
This is a bit of an interesting one because it’s not something that most people consider there to be- well- any expectations on, but there most certainly are. The key to understanding the rules around managing your menstrual cycle is to realize that every piece is technically contextual. For example: the most well known one is the requirement to use tampons. This is only technically a requirement when you will be: 1. getting your panties region wet (ex. swimming), 2. wearing nothing on the bottom, or 3. wearing tight bottoms therefor requiring a thong.
While these are the only times it’s required to wear a tampon, there are many more times when it is expected or valued to wear a tampon, pads have a tendency to smell, among other issues, so tampons are pretty much always recommended. Going along with that, situationally it may be required, expected, or valued to be comfortable wearing your tampon for extended periods of time. While sometimes you might have the luxury of opportunity to step away and change your tampon, sometimes you may not. In these moments it’s important to be comfortable wearing your tampon for extended periods of time. I generally recommend wearing a tampon that can handle 10-12 hours of flow and planning to change it between 8 and 10 hours after insertion. that gives you a four hour window in which you can find an opportunity to change a tampon.
Ah yes, nicotine. This one is the most controversial of the societal expectations, but nicotine consumption is almost always valued, often expected, and rarely is even required. Understanding when nicotine consumption is valued versus expected versus required can be quite difficult, so it’s generally safest to just start as early as possible.

When a girl starts her nicotine journey the obvious question is how? There are methods like patches, gum, pouches, etc. but generally for girls- these just won’t do. We need to be inhaling nicotine through either vapes, or cigarettes.
First we should go over vapes because they do have some undeniable benefits, especially for beginners. Vapes typically use SALT nicotine, which has a more neutral PH than the freebase nicotine which girls would get from cigarettes. This more neutral PH contributes to a gentler throat hit which allows for easier consumption, especially for girls just starting out.
On top of the easier throat hit, Vapes don’t leave a lingering smell or residue the way cigarettes do, nor do they produce smoke in the traditional sense. This allows girls to use their vapes indoors, which allows for more frequent use, and ultimately leads to a shorter adjustment period. Not only that, but vapes also have a much flatter nicotine absorption curve, allowing girls to maintain a higher baseline level of nicotine without getting “nic sick” which can also contribute to a faster adjustment window.
While vapes might seem like the clear choice, they do have some downsides when compared to cigarettes. The primary downsides are their effects: vapes do not provide tar, which is one of the primary mechanisms through which cigarettes effect a girls body. They also do not provide carbon monoxide which means vapes have a decreased likelihood of enabling strokes or heart-attacks.
Cigarettes, on the other hand, do provide both tar and carbon monoxide, which together enable many beneficial effects. They also provide free-base nicotine as opposed to SALT nicotine. This means that girls who smoke cigarettes will really feel the smoke as it flows down their throat.
Not only that, but cigarettes also have a high chance of shortening the menstrual cycle length leading to shorter, more-frequent, periods. This increased period frequency can also contribute to early menopause, meaning girls who chose to smoke cigarettes as opposed to vapes will be allowed to stop managing their periods earlier in life.

At the end of the day, vapes provide the most benefit for girls just starting out, and cigarettes for provide the most long-term benefits. I’d recommend starting out with vapes exclusively, then transitioning
from vapes to cigarettes once you’ve gotten started. I’d recommend vaping whenever you are unable to step outside for a cigarette (ex. when at school, or in bed), and smoking cigarettes whenever you are able to step out. Then, over time, start to limit your vaping progressively more and more. Your body will automatically increase cigarette consumption to compensate.
