Much like tampons, hair, and the rest of a girls wardrobe, girls are expected to learn about panties from their mothers; but for girls who’s mothers didn’t teach them, or who’s mothers never learned about panties themselves, the world of panties can be confusing and overwhelming. Today, we’re going to go through the rules about panties: why there are so many options, when girls need to wear specific types, the best every-day panties, and more. Without further adieu, lets get right into it.
The different types

Panties come is all kinds of shapes and sizes, but today we’ll be going through six: g-string, thong, no-show, hipster, bikini, and boy-short. These six cover the range of coverage from g-string covering the least to boyshort covering the most, and everything else in the middle. No-Show panties are a little different because a no-show panty isn’t a specific shape, but instead has no seams with the idea that it won’t show through tight bottoms. Otherwise, each panty is a different shape which covers a different amount.
Starting off with thongs: these are the best every-day panties for most girls. They cover the entire vagina, but only have a thin strip of fabric which sits between the butt-cheeks, and they come in an incredibly wide array of colors and materials. Most girls will wear a mix of cotton thongs and lace thongs depending on their outfit, and how they want to feel that day.
G-Strings are similar to thongs, but the waistband and back strip of fabric are typically even smaller, and often g-strings only partially cover the labia. G-Strings most often have a cotton wasteland and back strip, with either a mesh or a lace front panel and gusset. Many girls also wear these panties regularly, and some girls find they feel more confident and attractive in a g-string because of the reduced coverage. These panties are also ideal if someone else is intended to see them.
No-show panties are rarely good, and generally are made of low-quality materials while still showing panty lines under many garments. As such they should typically be avoided. Bikini panties are ideal bottoms for… well… a bikini. As panties to wear under day clothes they aren’t ideal as they have too much coverage for most outfits, and tend to be highly visible through clothing. Finally boyshorts are a great option for sleepwear. While many girls elect to sleep in thongs or g-strings, boyshorts provide more coverage for girls who’d prefer their butts are fully covered while sleeping.
G-Strings and Thongs

When a girl wears tight bottoms, especially leggings she needs to wear a g-string or a thong. Anything with more coverage causes atrocious panty lines as you can see on the left. Thongs and g-strings not only prevent panty lines, but allow the bottoms to hug a girls butt like the image on the right leading to an incredible silhouette. This is particularly critical for leggings, but it’s also expected when a girl is wearing a pencil skirt or even slacks that just hug her but tightly.
While loose pants mean girls are able to wear panties with more coverage, generally thongs and g-strings are the best every-day panties for most girls. They are quite comfortable because instead of a large amount of fabric bunching up in her butt, there’s a small strip that’s intended to be there. On top of that, panties with more coverage can be risky if a girl wants to wear a mini-skirt or booty shorts because when moving those bottoms can ride up high enough that other panties could be seen, clearly showing where her butt is.
Thongs and g-strings however mask exactly where a girls leg transitions into her butt, allowing her to wear shorter bottoms that would otherwise show her panties. Not only that, but having one less layer of fabric covering a girls butt can help with sweat, and the airflow can be extremely nice. Finally many girls find that thongs and g-strings increase their confidence and make them feel more attractive.
Higher Coverage Options
The most common higher-coverage option is the hipster. like thongs, hipster panties come in a wide array of colors and materials- but they usually cover about half of a girls butt-cheaks. These are about as high coverage as girls should go for an every-day panty. Generally higher-coverage options are reserved for specific times or specific garments.
While bikini-style panties are available, this cut should generally be reserved for actual bikini’s. It only just covers the entire labia, but it offers coverage over most or all of a girls butt. This can increase sweating, and is generally considered to be prudish for daily wear, but is a great option for swimwear.
Finally boy-short style panties should be strongly avoided for daily wear, as they are not a feminine cut on panty- but they can be a good option for girls who don’t want to wear full PJ’s to sleep in, but want something with higher coverage than their daily panty. Boyshorts are typically looser, and not only cover a girl’s entire labia and butt-cheeks, but also their hips and the tops of their thighs. Not a good everyday panty but they are a good option for sleeping if a girl wants the additional coverage. Many girls just sleep in thongs or g-strings however, and that’s also perfectly acceptable.
Cotton, lace, and Spandex

Many brands like to provide branded material names, but generally speaking most panties come in three basic materials: Cotton, Spandex, and Lace. Any of the three can be used for regular daily wear, but spandex and lace offer additional flexibility, so many girls elect to have almost exclusively lace and spandex panties.
Spandex is the most stretchy of the material options, and is fairly non-absorbant, making it perfect for control panties (panties that help to slim down a girls figure), and makes it the perfect material during a girls period. Lace is lighter weight, more breathable, and typically more attractive. Most girls need some time before they get used to wearing lace panties, especially thongs and g-strings- but most girls find that lace panties make them feel more attractive and more confident.
Really, there isn’t much more too panties- while many girls don’t really understand them, they’re pretty simple at their core. Thongs and g-strings for the day-to-day, with bikini’s for swimming and boyshorts for sleeping if a girl wants more coverage. That will cover 99% of a girls panty needs without confusion, and without undue headache.
